Windows Vista, like other Windows products can have Windows start up problems. Many times it is advised to use Vista in safe mode to be able to find out where these problems may lie. It is a simple matter to use the safe mode. Simply re-start your computer, then hit F8 until the menu comes up. You have three options then to use in safe mode such as Safe Mode with Networking, Safe Mode and Safe Mode with Networking. Each one will do different things and help you to find problems.

The one mostly used for Windows start up problems is Safe Mode. This loads with the bare minimum of things so that you can find what is causing the problem. Using the keyboard keys, simply move up or down until you have highlighted the choice that you want. Then use a process of elimination when it comes to what things could be causing start up problems. It can be a virus, hard drive failure, incompatible software, or lack of updating. Many different problems exist at this level so you will need to figure out where problems are occurring.

Windows start up problems can also be caused by memory hogs such as too large programs. The safe mode is the best way to locate these problems without going so far as to do a total re-format of your computer’s hard drive. It is also easier to solve problems if they are minor. Safe mode allows for you to find what you are looking for.
